What we collect

You can read the site without an account. We do not ask you to sign in.

  • The Briefing. If you subscribe, we keep the email address you give us so we can send the letter and so you can unsubscribe.
  • Contact form. If you write to us, we receive your name, email, reason and message through Formspree. Formspree delivers that note to info@asiahotelier.com and keeps a copy so we can reply.
  • Supplier and hotel listings. If you submit a company or a hotel for sale, we store the details you type in our own database so we can check the listing before anything is published.
  • Job applications. Apply links go to the hiring company. Asia Hotelier is not the employer and does not receive the application unless the listing says so.
  • Page measurement. Google Analytics counts visits and which pages are read. Google receives that measurement, including a cookie identifier and a rough location. We do not use it for advertising. The cookies page says how to refuse it.
  • Connection logs. The host that serves the site may keep ordinary logs, such as an IP address, the browser type and the page requested. Those logs keep the site running and help us deal with abuse. We do not use them to build an advertising profile.

How we use it

An email address is used to send The Briefing, or to reply if you wrote to the newsroom or the partnerships desk. We do not sell personal information, and we do not pass a subscriber list to advertisers.

A tip or a correction may be used to check and update a story. We do not publish your name unless you have agreed to be named.

Who else sees it

Staff who send the letter or answer the newsroom can see the address you sent. Formspree processes contact-form notes. Supplier and hotel listing notes are stored on db.asiahotelier.com, which is our own database. Google Analytics processes page-view measurements. A company that hosts the site or the letter can process an address only so that service can run. Photographs are served from media.asiahotelier.com, which is our own media host.

Share links to LinkedIn or X leave this site. Those companies then apply their own rules. We do not embed their trackers on the page.

How long we keep it

A newsletter address stays until you unsubscribe or you ask us to delete it. Newsroom correspondence is kept for as long as we need it to answer you, correct a story, or meet a legal duty. Host logs are kept only for the period the host needs to operate the site.

Your choices

Write to the newsroom and you can ask us to:

  • tell you what we hold about you
  • correct something that is wrong
  • delete a newsletter address
  • stop sending The Briefing

Every edition of the letter also carries a way to unsubscribe. If a privacy law where you live gives you a further right, say so in the same email and we will respond.

Children

The site is written for hospitality professionals. We do not knowingly collect information from children.
