Amina Lantana Hoi An Hotel & Spa is a 93-room independent hotel at 97 Nguyen Duy Hieu Street, about 2 km east of Hoi An Ancient Town, run by the local Lantana Hoi An Group. It opened in 2023. Da Nang’s Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism places it in the city’s “four-star-equivalent” group, which means it is not currently star-rated. For owners and investors, Amina Lantana is a useful reference point: a young, mid-sized, locally operated hotel built for leisure guests who want the Ancient Town without paying for a riverfront or beach address.

Operator and ownership

The hotel says its team comes from Lantana Hoi An Group. The group also runs Lantana Boutique Hoi An Hotel, on Thoai Ngoc Hau Street by the Hoai River, and Lantana Riverside Hoi An Hotel, and the Laelia Spa name appears at more than one of its properties. That makes Amina Lantana the group’s third Hoi An hotel and, from the descriptions on the group’s own sites, its most resort-like.

We could not confirm the legal entity that owns the hotel. A Da Nang company with “Lantana” in its name appears in business registers, but its registered activity is an eco-tourism park outside the city, so we do not link it to this hotel. The hotel is also listed as a partner of Karma Club, the membership programme of Karma Group, which gives it a channel beyond the online travel agents.

Food, beverage and leisure

The hotel’s directory lists a restaurant in the basement, the Tropicana Pool Bar and a lobby lounge on the first floor, the Laelia Spa, a gym and a souvenir shop. The pool sits under a sunlit atrium, which the hotel uses as its signature feature. It also lists a complimentary private beach service and airport transfers. Booking platforms list about 50 m² of meeting space; the hotel does not market meetings, and we treat events as a minor revenue line.

Rating status

Da Nang’s tourism department data, updated to April 2026, lists 61 rated four-star establishments in the enlarged city and a separate group of 36 “four-star-equivalent” properties that are unrated or whose recognition has lapsed. Amina Lantana is in the second group. In practice, the hotel is built and marketed at four-star level but does not carry the national rating. For owners, that matters in two places: some corporate and government buyers filter by official rating, and lenders and valuers often benchmark against rated stock.

Location and competitive set

Nguyen Duy Hieu runs east from the Ancient Town towards Cua Dai. Hotels here sell walkability to the old town at lower land and room costs than the riverfront, and a short drive to An Bang and Cua Dai beaches. Two other properties in Da Nang’s four-star-equivalent group sit on the same street: Hội An Rosemary Boutique Hotel & Spa at number 138 and Le Pavillon Hội An Gallery Hotel & Spa at number 288.

The closer benchmark is Hoi An’s rated four-stars of a similar size. In our hotel database, built from the national register, these are the town-area four-stars between 85 and 110 rooms.

Hotel Rooms Rating
Vinh Hung Riverside 89 Four-star
Phu Thinh Boutique 91 Four-star
Amina Lantana Hoi An Hotel & Spa 93 Four-star equivalent (unrated)
Allegro Hoi An 94 Four-star
Hadana Boutique Resort Hoi An 95 Four-star
Lasiesta Hoi An 107 Four-star
Hoi An Central Boutique 108 Four-star

Room counts and ratings are from the national register via our database; Amina Lantana’s from the hotel. For a larger five-star comparison in the same market, see our profile of Bellerive Hoi An Hotel & Spa. For national supply context, see how many hotels Vietnam has.

What it means for owners and operators

1. Mid-sized independents are Hoi An’s default format

Most of the comparison set above has 85 to 110 rooms and no international brand. Amina Lantana fits that pattern rather than breaking it. International brands in Hoi An have mostly gone to the beach or to soft-brand conversions, so a locally run, 90-room town hotel competes on location, product and price, not on loyalty.

2. The rating gap is a commercial decision, not only a compliance one

Being in the four-star-equivalent group costs little with leisure guests booking online. It can cost more with tour operators, MICE organisers and corporate accounts that specify rated hotels. Our view: an owner in this position should cost the rating application against the group and corporate business it would unlock.

3. A three-hotel local group can share costs

With three Hoi An hotels, Lantana Hoi An Group can share sales, revenue management and spa operations across properties. That is the main advantage a small domestic operator has over a single independent, and it is the model to watch as more owners in Hoi An consider whether they need a brand at all.

4. Watch the shoulder and rainy seasons

Hoi An’s rainy season runs from September to January, according to the hotel’s own guide. Town hotels without beachfront depend on Ancient Town footfall, which drops in the wet months. Family room stock, the beach service and a membership-club channel help fill that gap.
