Shilla Monogram Hanoi Westlake opens on 23 October 2026 with 319 rooms and suites, The Shilla’s first hotel in Vietnam’s capital. For Hanoi owners and GMs it is a new upper-upscale competitor for corporate, diplomatic and event demand in the West Lake and Starlake area, five weeks after LÈGACY Hanoi opened nearby.
The Shilla announced the date on 2 October. The hotel is at 6 Hoang Minh Thao Street, Xuan Dinh Ward, in the Starlake urban area, and is the fourth Shilla Monogram after Da Nang (2020), Gangneung in South Korea and Xi’an in China. The hotel says it is close to Hanoi’s diplomatic area, embassies and international offices, and about 25 minutes from Noi Bai International Airport.

Why The Shilla is coming to Hanoi
Chosun Ilbo, a secondary source, reported that Hotel Shilla runs the hotel under a management contract, with the owner keeping the building. It is the group’s third overseas opening of 2026, after Shilla Monogram Xi’an in February and Shilla Stay Yancheng in April. The paper said the asset-light model lets Hotel Shilla grow with less upfront investment and depend less on its duty-free business.
The Shilla already knows Vietnam. Shilla Monogram Danang opened in 2020 and was named Asia’s Leading Lifestyle Resort at the World Travel Awards 2026.

What it means for Hanoi owners and operators
1. West Lake gets two new upscale hotels in five weeks
LÈGACY Hanoi opened on 16 September and Shilla Monogram follows on 23 October. Hotels around West Lake and Tay Ho should expect new competition for corporate rates, long stays and weekend leisure from the fourth quarter. Wink Hanoi Westlake adds another 406 keys on Thuy Khue in 2027.
2. A new mid-sized event venue in west Hanoi
The 620-guest Grand Ballroom suits corporate meetings, weddings and embassy events. It is far smaller than the 3,000 sqm of function space planned at Co Loa Marriott, which serves exhibition traffic further out of town. Our view: Shilla’s ballroom competes most directly with the existing hotel ballrooms in Tay Ho and Ba Dinh.
3. Korean F&B is part of the proposition
JINJI, a Korean barbecue restaurant with private dining rooms, sits alongside a Chinese restaurant and an all-day venue under a Korean operator. Our view: owners of business hotels that rely on Korean corporate and group accounts should watch whether Shilla wins them. Neither The Shilla nor Chosun Ilbo gave target segments or rates.
4. Management contracts keep the capital with local owners
Hotel Shilla is growing abroad without owning the buildings. For Vietnamese owners, that adds a Korean operator to the list of companies willing to run upscale city hotels under contract.
