Vingroup is Vietnam’s best-known conglomerate and the owner behind Vinpearl, the country’s largest listed hospitality company. For hotel owners and operators, the useful question is not how many industries Vingroup touches. It is how the group structures hospitality, which operators run its keys, and what its pipeline means for rates and talent in the markets where Vinpearl already dominates.

How Vingroup is structured
TCBS’s September 2026 initiation note describes six pillars: industry and technology, real estate and services, infrastructure, green energy, culture, and social philanthropy. Ownership ratios differ sharply across them.
| Listed or named unit | Role for hotels | Vingroup effective stake (31 Mar 2026) |
|---|---|---|
| Vinpearl (VPL) | Hotels, resorts, VinWonders parks, golf | 85.6% |
| Vinhomes (VHM) | Townships that host future hotels (e.g. Can Gio) | 73.5% |
| Vincom Retail (VRE) | Malls; not a hotel operator | 18.8% (not consolidated) |
| VinFast (VFS) | EVs; capital-consuming industrial pillar | Control described as “just-sufficient” |
The hotel story sits almost entirely in Vinpearl, with new sites often coming through Vinhomes masterplans. That is why a Vingroup company page has to point down to the Vinpearl profile rather than relisting every hotel.
The hospitality arm: Vinpearl
Vinpearl reports 35 hotels and resorts with 17,525 equivalent rooms across 19 provinces at 31 December 2025. Vingroup’s August 2026 corporate presentation rounds operational hotel and beach-villa capacity to about 17,500 room keys and says 62% of the rooms available for rent that Vinpearl owns are managed by Melia or Marriott.
| Brand family (Vinpearl portfolio) | Role |
|---|---|
| Vinpearl-branded | Owner-operated resorts and hotels |
| Melia Vinpearl / Affiliated by Melia | Melia management of Vinpearl assets since the 2022 transfer |
| Marriott brands (Marriott, Sheraton, Four Points, Renaissance, Autograph Collection) | Conversions and new builds under Marriott management |
Three provinces — Khanh Hoa (Nha Trang and Cam Ranh), An Giang (Phu Quoc) and Da Nang — hold most of the rooms. See our Vinpearl Nha Trang cluster guide for the Hon Tre inventory.
Vinpearl has traded on HOSE as VPL since 13 May 2025. In June 2026 it closed a US$255 million preferred-share investment from SeaTown and the Oman Investment Authority; we have not seen an updated Vingroup stake published after that deal.
Pipeline that matters for rivals
The clearest near-term hotel pipeline is Vinhomes Green Paradise in Can Gio, Ho Chi Minh City. Agreements announced with Marriott and IHG put The Ritz-Carlton Can Gio and Can Gio Marriott Hotel (about 700 rooms, due late 2027) plus four IHG hotels (Holiday Inn Express and Garner from 2028; InterContinental and Crowne Plaza from 2030) on the project, with Vinpearl leading operations alongside the brands. We covered the opening timeline in our Vinpearl Can Gio note.
Vinpearl’s listing materials also pointed to a roughly 40% increase in hotel room capacity by 2028. Treat that as a group target, not a per-hotel schedule.
What it means for you
1. Rival owners compete with an owner, not a single brand
With most Vinpearl rooms under Melia or Marriott flags, Vingroup looks like Vietnam’s largest hotel owner-partner. Independent resorts in Nha Trang and Phu Quoc compete against bundled park-and-room packages and against global loyalty distribution, not against a single “Vinpearl” rate card.
2. Watch Can Gio as a template for township hotels
Can Gio shows how Vingroup adds hotels: Vinhomes builds the masterplan, international brands take the flags, Vinpearl co-operates. Owners pitching other mega-townships should expect similar brand competitions.
3. Talent follows the operator
Cluster GM roles on Melia Vinpearl hotels hire under Melia structures. Candidates and competing hotels should read the brand on the facade as a signal of who actually runs the building.
4. Use the listed reporting
Since 2025 Vinpearl publishes quarterly results and property-level room counts. It is one of the few public data sources on Vietnam’s resort market; we track it in our Vietnam hotel market report.
